Italy, cont'd
My pals Sneha and Jessamine are both in Italy right now, so my thoughts turn again to the last (only) time I was ever there -- during a school trip when I was fifteen. I kept a journal about the trip, some entries from which can be found here and here. Here are a couple more.

SUNDAY 1:30 PM
Today we went to the Academia (Macadamia) and saw nice paintings. There was one, by Gianni Bellini, of Mary with a couple of saints. The one on the right looked exactly like Peter Gabriel! It was uncanny, but I couldn't take a picture because it wasn't allowed.
.
THE GUYS I LIKED IN ITALY
The pigeon man
The Alexei man
The French tall man
The guy who sold us ice cream
French guy in restaurant (Florence)
Rebel without a cause on the bus in Rome
Parker Lewis (pensione - Rome)
The three guys on the train from Ostia
The boy (like, 14) also on the Ostia train who looked kind of like Pavel Bure.
.
VENICE (Sunday - 12:00 AM - actually Monday)
There was this couple who we saw lying in the middle of Piazza San Marco. When we had walked for awhile & come back they were still there but this time Ms. Fleming was taking pictures of them. It turns out they're from Cincinnatti. She came over here to study architecture. He flew over & surprised her, and right then he had proposed!!! I was about to cry.
Your story about the [St.] Peter Gabriel reminds me of how hard I laughed in the Louvre at the Avignon Pieta, in which Jimmy Carter's dopplegänger appears in the far left!
